SITE VISIT IN DOHA

If you don’t still follow us on Instragram, you might have missed the pictures of our recent site trip to the fascinating capital of Qatar!

We have been very busy on our residential project in Doha, but we still managed to fit in some city viewing. While Aida had visited already; Marta, Nika and Eleonora were completely new to the Emirates and their boiling 40 degrees. Especially Marta, whose sometimes misses the warm Spanish weather, was very happy with the Qatari sun!

Nika would say that her favorite spot was the stunning Jean Nouvel’s skyscraper, a real design inspiration with its lace-like texture on the facade.

Another unmissable place it’s definitely the Souq, with its colors and spices’ aroma filling the air. We had a fortunate encounter with a local henna artist, and Eleonora got her occasion to blend in while getting a fantastic piece of temporary ink. The Souq offers a taste of vernacular architecture: the use of clay and traditional materials strongly differs from the tall glass towers, revealing the real soul of Doha.

Last but not least, all STUDIOAida loved the Museum of Islamic Art, masterpiece by I. M. Pei. Not only it displays a very interesting permanent collections, but it perfectly interacts with the landscape, emerging like a precious pearl from the Qatari sea.
